The Story
Just when you think Damian is bad, they bring him back around. Heh.
We start off directly from the last issue. Damian and Nobody and holding a guy hostage and Nobody tells Damian to shoot him to prove that Damian wants to learn from him and Bruce. Damian pulls the trigger, but the gun isn't loaded. Nobody lets him know that it was a test and shows Damian how to paralyze someone just as Damian was paralyzed by him so many issues ago.
We get a flash of Batman as he is still trying to search for him. A camera catches Robin and Batman is on his way to get him. We get a continuation of Bruce's time training with Ducard and Nobody as he is telling it to Damian, or some sort or recording, or something. Basically Bruce helps track down the guy that Ducard has been wanting to find and Ducard kills the guy, much to Bruce's dismay. Bruce then says he is done training with Ducard and leaves. Ducard tells Nobody to go after Bruce and take him out. Nobody misses and Bruce then takes a cinder block to Nobody's windshield kicks the living crap out of him. He just falls short of killing him.
The next scene we see is Nobody going through a skylight and landing on a table that Ducard is working on stuff with. Flash back up to the hole in the ceiling and Bruce is gone. Nice.
Back in Gotham, Bruce asks Commissioner Gordon to give them 2 hours to find out who took out the embassy. Gordon gives him one.
Nobody and Damian are in Gotham Harbor about to torture some info out of the ambassador guy that Damian almost killed. Nobody decides to try and dunk the guy in acid. Damian doesn't like this and reveals his ruse. Turns out that Damian activated his GPS tracker and Batman is coming for them. Nobody accuses Robin of teaming up with Batman. Damian says he did it on his own. The gun from the beginning of the issue? Damian felt that the weight was off since no bullets were in it and he knew it wouldn't fire. Why wouldn't Damian betray Batman for Nobody? Damian says its because Batman is his father, you idiot.
A call is made from Nobody to Batman. He tells Batman the next sound he hears will be of his son breaking. We hear some snaps and Bruce screams Damian to end the issue.
Well executed issue. There isn't much for me to say here that I haven't said before about this comic. Its focusing on Damian and Bruce's relationship is spot on excellent.
The Art
Continued consistency from issue to issue. Everything about the art hits it for me throughout this series. I can't see anyone else lending art duties to this type of story and pulling it off in the manner that it is.
The Cover
Slightly misleading, but it is perfect for setting up the reveal at the end of the comic. Its a nice homage/borrow to the Dark Knight image of Batman and Robin flying through the air with some added lightning in the back ground. It definitely draws you in but the characters themselves don't appear to be affected by the light coming off of the lightning, they just seemed as dulled out as if there is no lightning there.
Grades
Words: 10/10
Pictures: 10/10
Recommend: Highly, but you will be feeling like you missed stuff if you don't read at least the previous issue. They feel like a two part-er in the middle of a longer arc that work well together.
Buy Next Issue: I don't know if its the conclusion of the story, but at least it will be a confrontation. I'll be looking forward to it.
