The Story
The the two main stories for this series switches spots. The tale of the first human Red Lantern takes up a majority of the page count, and a glimpse inside the Red Lantern's home world shows what is going on with them, which sadly isn't much at all.

Jack Moore, the human Red Lantern whose story has been told in two page counts until now, doesn't really have much of a back story besides what we have been told. Seriously, if you have been reading since issue one you get a bunch of set up for the character that is basically repeated here. The payoff seems to be is that he isn't completely mindless. The issue takes place from his perspective, and the thought bubbles are his own. We basically see him finally deal with the issue of his grandfather being killed and he decides to go after the killer. Then he gets stopped at the end of the issue by Guy Gardner, the Green Lantern, who says that they need to talk.

Meanwhile, back on the Red Lantern's home world of Ysmault, Atrocitus is yelling at Bleez again. She gets in a jab or two this time, and Atrocitus is about to show her what's up when another Red Lantern stands up and says that Bleez has had enough. Atrocitus can't believe this, and wonders how he has lost all the power that he had over the Red Lanterns.

So basically nothing new on that front either.

There should have been more here. We've had some big build up, some setups and minor repeating of the story since the first issue, which all was working great for me until this issue. How could past issues compact some of the Red Lantern's back stories in a couple of beautiful pages only to have an entire issue to give me a story about a human Red Lantern that presented no new information about the character and felt like there was zero accomplished all issue? How does that happen?

The Art
Wow, this one was painful. I expect that Benes tends to draw the ladies in provocative poses, but how many ass shots do you need? And they aren't even good ass shots. There are some awkward poses by females, who look like they should have snapped their spines. And the costume design for the human Red Lantern includes hair that looks like it is on fire. And that mask? Ugh. Why is it that only human lanterns need to have a mask on. Just drop it already.

What is funny about the spine bending that was done by females in this comic is that when the first panel has the words "my spine just snapped" said by the male, he looks like he is just kneeling down. Where is his back breaking ass shot?

The Cover
The cover says that his Red Lantern name is Rankorr, but you won't find any characters mention that in the comic. That's because the human Red Lantern doesn't meet Atrocitus. But the words did cover up a great ass shot of Bleez. And if you look closely enough, you can see the blue colored hip/partial ass shot to the right of the human Red Lantern. This cover was way, way off from the story.

Grades
Words: 3/10 - stop repeating yourself.
Pictures: 3/10 - the guest art did not do well this issue. The impossible bending of the female characters. Come on.
Recommend: Not at all. This is not the Red Lantern comic to get if you want to have been with it since issue #1. If this is your first time, you probably won't be back.
Buy Next Issue: This is the first stumble for Red Lanterns for me. If this is going to be par for the course of the book from here on out, I won't be around long.
