Comics! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #3

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #3

Story: Kevin Eastman & Tom Waltz
Script: Tom Waltz
Layouts: Kevin Eastman
Art: Dan Duncan

The good times just keep on rolling! It becomes so difficult to describe how consistently good this comic is doing month in and month out. We follow the turtles further into their origin story, catch up with how the present is doing, and build some tension that will be answered next issue.

In the past we get into the origin story of when the turtles mutated. We also see where their enemy in the opening pages of the series, Hob the one eyed cat, came from. That ooze still gets around to the turtles' enemies.

We see that Casey Jones and Raph are out stopping thieves and having a difficult time returning the stolen goods to the rightful owner. The three other turtles have an exchange of words about what they are doing each night they leave the sewers. The final piece is the cliffhanger of Hobs meeting Raph and Casey, which will either be an ass kicking for Hobs or a kidnapping for Raph.

The art is consistent from issue to issue. once again the coloring and positioning of characters help you to tell the difference between the turtles. Each character is drawn in such a way that tells you they are different from other characters, yet the spoken words each tell a distinct personality. It may be difficult to read this comic in black and white, but I am so thankful that the color is there.

This is still worth the $3.99 price of admission. Please just don't fall in the quality of the book. I also need to remind myself to send in an email to the publisher to let them know what I think as well. It would be a shame to lose a book of this quality due to lack of sales.
